ART AND CULTURE
The Art of Storytelling as an Educational Process
The art of storytelling has accompanied humanity since the beginning of time, through narratives that help give meaning to the human experience while transmitting values.
In every culture, stories unite generations, preserve memories, and fuel the collective imagination. Our mission is to develop a program that involves transmitting stories through various channels, using Indian Classical Arts as a means of expression.
The concept of Nāṭyam - performing arts - was developed in India, with the Nāṭyaśāstra being a reference literary work in this field, written by Bharata Muni about 2000 years ago.
Theatre, dance, and music have graced the temples, palaces, and stages of India since the time of Vedic culture, serving as a privileged means of educating the public. Artists researched and portrayed content from the Puranas and devotional literature, transforming the artistic process into a means of bringing knowledge to those who did not read the Vedas, originally written in Sanskrit.
Living up to this original purpose of using Art as a pedagogical method, we continue the purpose of the Performing Arts.

Classical Indian Dance Classes and Workshops
Bharatanatyam is a highly sophisticated dance style that contributes to the development of motor skills, as well as artistic refinement, while also working on the emotional, intellectual and spiritual dimensions.
We take this activity to schools, institutions and events.
We also hold regular classes at the Comunidade Hindu de Portugal and hold workshops in various venues in and around Lisbon.
We also invite artists and teachers from various styles to lead workshops.

Classical Indian Dance Performances
We promote solo or group performances, adapted to the different environments proposed.
Performances can happen on their own, or combined with other activities.
Art workshops and lectures are often complemented by a dance or music performance.
